Work Accident

What constitutes a work accident, exactly? A work accident is an event (often of a violent nature) that occurs without intention and unexpectedly, during the execution of work or as a consequence of it, that causes temporary or permanent damage to the health of the worker (or, in extremis, an occupational fatality).

Usually, in order for an work accident to legally qualify as such there must be a direct or indirect causal relationship between the causing event and the work. If the accident work occurs due to the employer or any of his/her direct substitutes not having respected safety regulations, the employer is usually under an obligation to compensate the victim.
